Christiaan Bezuidenhout

The South African makes his third appearance in ‘Africa’s Major’, having achieved a top finish of tied third in the 2022 Nedbank Golf Challenge. Bezuidenhout is a three-time winner on the DP World Tour, including the 2020 South African Open which he won at the Gary Player Country Club. Born in Delmas, Bezuidenhout suffered a tragic accident at the age of two when he drank from what he thought was a can of Coca-Cola but which turned out to contain rat poison. The incident resulted in a speech stammer but which Bezuidenhout has turned into a powerful message of hope and support worldwide as he works as a global ambassador for the Blanks Center for Stuttering Education & Research. After a strong amateur career, Bezuidenhout turned professional and broke through with his maiden Sunshine Tour title in the 2016 Fish River Sun Challenge. He was named the Sunshine Tour’s Fortress Rookie of the Year for the 2016-17 season. He made his DP World Tour breakthrough with victory in the 2019 Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters. He won the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit delivered by The Courier Guy in the 2020-21 season following a dominant run of back-to-back victories in the Alfred Dunhill Championship and South African Open. Bezuidenhout was a member of the 2022 International Team for the Presidents Cup and has also represented South Africa twice at the Olympic Games.
