“I was eight years old when I first came and watched the Nedbank Golf Challenge with my family. I watched the practice rounds, the players at the short game area, on the golf course – everything. It was always a dream for me to play in the Nedbank Golf Challenge.”

From being an eight-year-old boy dreaming about playing in the Nedbank Golf Challenge, Bezuidenhout returns to Sun City this year about to make his fifth appearance in Africa’s Major.

The South African has a strong record in this tournament, with top finishes of tied fifth in 2022, tied sixth in 2024 and fourth in 2025. His love of the Gary Player Country Club layout extends to his victory here in the 2020 South African Open – one of his three titles on the DP World Tour.

Born in Delmas, Bezuidenhout suffered a near-fatal accident at the age of two when he drank from what he thought was a can of Coca-Cola but which turned out to contain rat poison. The incident resulted in a speech stammer which Bezuidenhout has turned into a powerful message of hope and support worldwide as he works as a global ambassador for the Blank Center for Stuttering Education & Research.

He made his third appearance for the International Team in the Presidents Cup this year, and has also twice represented South Africa at the Olympic Games.
